Have you seen this video? It has had over 1.5 million views on YouTube. I love it and I love when big companies get it.

It's absolutely the truth! News is reaching us faster than going through the drive thru at McDonalds.

I think social media is a double-edges sword. It's great for bloggers and companies to connect with fans/readers/customers, but it has REALLY taken away from face to face connection on a local level.

80% of the time, my friends will just send me a FB message or email rather than calling me about a playdate. Sometimes, I feel like a playdate isn't even necessary when "Suzie" has updated her status so many times, I already know what she's done this week. ;)

So...I love FB and Twitter for the way they've let me connect with readers and people I don't get to see often, but I hate how it's added yet another *thing* to the already-busy lives of my friends. Sometimes, I just want to sit and have coffee face to face, you know? ;)

Sorry so long...just my thoughts. :)

Amanda, I could not agree more with what you said and would like to add that I have concerns about the huge numbers of people getting news online. Not all sources are reliable - in fact, much of the news is really opinion.

I also worry that young people connecting via Twitter, Facebook, and texting no longer know how to talk or hold a conversation. I have seen this shift over the last few years and find it upsetting. As my niece said to me...."hardly anybody uses their cell phone for talking any more".

How are these young people going to fare in job interviews, etc.?

So I really am the only one in the universe without a facebook page... :):) well ummm I guess "I" am on FB but I guess that doesn't count!!!

Sometimes I feel left out becasue my friends will communicate on FB and I have no clue what is going on... BUT I have a hard enough time updating my blog regularly. Maybe when my kiddos are grown and in college I'll try FB out. Until them I'll leave it to you to fill me on what I'm missing. :)
