DIY Organization: Magazine Holders

Again, my peeps. I am not that smart. I don't sit around and miraculously craft things into existence. However, I do spend a lot of time on the computer, just ask my butt. This blogger is smarter.

Here is a great way to organize your magazines and books.

Supplies Needed:
Ruler
Straight Edge
Fabric or Thick Paper (don’t use wrapping paper like I did - FAIL)
Mailing Box
Glue

This is a super easy way to organize books and magazines. I used a USPS priority mailing box. I highly recommend using a thick paper or even better would be fabric for this project. You need something durable that can withstand being moved on and off shelves and a material that will not wrinkle when glued. You could also use Capri-Sun boxes or any other thick box.

Step 1:
Take your box and measure 6” on one side and 12” on the opposite side. Make sure your measurement will fit on your shelf. Draw a straight line from the 6” measurement to the 12” measurement and cut out.

Step 2:
Measure your covering source (paper or fabric) and wrap like a present, gluing at all critical areas. I am going to try to spray paint some this weekend and maybe paint little chalk-board squares for labels. I'll update my blog if they work.

Ta-Da! Recycled organization for all your notebooks, magazines and books! If you attempt this project, I’d love to see your creativity. Please go to Beachbrights Fan Page on Facebook and upload your finished product images. I can’t wait to see what some of you talented peeps come up with...Inspire Me!!

XOXO-

You are too funny..."just ask my butt". I have odds and ends of wallpaper. Do you think that would work?

Those are so pretty! I bought a pack of mag organizers from IKEA back in the Fall, but this is a fabulous way to do it even cheaper if you don't have an IKEA nearby. :)

PS. I want to do a Facebook page too for my blog, but I don't want my full name to show up (like it does on my personal FB page). Is there any way to set one up without your name showing up??

I love this idea. Thanks for sharing. I bought some wooden ones from Staples a few years ago and four of them cost me over $100.

Ahh you did it again you crafty girl you. Funny thing is my freshman son thought he'd be hilarious and went on the post office website and ordered what he thought was 10 of these boxes but what he really ordered was 10 cases so I got about enough to organize the whole dang block if they want it. :)

Have you seen how much they are charging for fabric covered mag boxes at Target, HomeGoods and the like? Up to $14.99 per box. Great idea and ultra thrifty too!

Perfect! This is a really inexpensive project too, as the USPS boxes are free. You can even get sets of 10-20 sent to your home for FREE!

Hi, I am sorry to say that I am disappointed in this posting.
These boxes are not 'free' for anything except for using for the post office.

People wonder and complain about the post office increasing their fees.
Now you know why.

Kim-Used recycled boxes and you can be as green as you like (& save the USPS) money.

You go girl.
