What is with this picture?

I don't know where I copied this photo from. If someone recognizes this photo, please leave me a comment. I want to give credit where credit is due!

OK, now to the photo. I saved this photo in my "Idea Folder" for one reason: The black & white stripe wall with a splash of orange appeals to me on some level. I would love to incorporate this into my home. I just don't know how. I was thinking maybe my dining room. I could do black & white stripe drapery panels and copy this artwork on one of my dining room walls. What about a rug? I could also paint stripes on one of the walls and add artwork just like the picture. I just can't seem to wrap my head around this picture. It's a more modern design than my current home but I still keep going back to this!

Here is a picture of my dining room:

What are your ideas, thoughts?

It's so interesting that you posted this. I just found this today:

It's definitely more modern than the look I'm usually after, but I found the curtains to be quite dramatic and fresh!

I think that if you really love it, you need to GO for it! And maybe if you did some curtains it wouldn't be such a permanent solution?

What about a rugby stripe in Max's room?

I would love to see you do this! It's so bold. If it were my space, I would go for something like you posted above in your "decorating with orange" post. I LOVE that last picture with the dramatic orange-touch-or-brown curtains and the mostly neutral room. I would also move the hutch in front of the window for better "chi". Show us what you decide!

Hi, I just discovered your blog and wanted to give my two cents regarding your dining room. Would you consider painting the chairs at the ends of the table black? For that punch of orange that you desire, a runner on the table could work.

A zebra rug or maybe a black and white striped rug would look terrific. Both are classics that won't look dated in a few years.
