Blogging Myself Skinny

IMG_1668

Can I do it?  My challenge to myself over the summer, is to blog on my computer while walking on my treadmill.  Byron rigged this wonderful desktop to the top of the treadmill. It works great.  The only problem I have had is working the laptop touch pad while in motion, so I had to buy a mouse. Much easier with a mouse (you should have seen me trying to highlight and select text while walking...sheesh!).

This brings me to my next point. If my blog entries seem a little whack, bare with me until I get the hang of this walking & typing thing or if the paragraph stops abruptly, I have probably passed out mid-sentence :)

Nike gave me this handy dandy SportBand.  I should be able to put this little chip into the bottom of my Nike+ sneakers and this band will keep track of my mileage/pace etc. Hopefully I can link the website daily to show my progress.  Sounds like fun, huh? I can hardly wait (insert sarcasm here).

Laptop desk: sits right on top of the treadmill bars. I did cut some rubbermaid mating to keep the computer from slipping and I also put some under the board to keep it from rubbing on the treadmill.

Byron drilled two holes in the board and then secured the board to the treadmill using bungee cords.

Cute bungee cords, huh? I think we got them at Lowes or was it Home Depot? Email Byron with any questions: brightwb at gmail dot com.

I'm dying to see if this works. It's something I've talked about, but haven't done...yet.

Sounds like a great idea! I'll have to keep this in mind when I have room for a treadmill :)

Great idea. I think if I tried this I would wind up falling off though. See, I have a tendency to fall off the treadmill if I don't pay attention to what I'm doing. Sad, I know.

My husband tried doing that for work. he's an editor, and he was always sitting, so he rigged up a similar set up to yours. He had to quite though cause it gave him foot trouble, but he was walking at a slow pace all day. I think he ha started back with just a little bit at a time and its better.

Geez, I am in no way coordinated enough to pull this off! Maybe if I was on the exercise bike!
