Getting Power to the Island:
I had an electrical outlet added to the ceiling since my house is built on slab. This was way cheaper than busting up concrete and I don't have to drape electrical cords to the wall outlets.

*Sorry about the cat being in the photos, she is one of these cats that you don't mess with when they are relaxing. Unless you want to lose a finger or two!

Resource Guide:
Rugs: Ikea
Stools: Overstock
Cabinets: Home Depot
Countertop: Formica
Canvas Baskets: Walmart
Knobs & Pulls: knobdepot.com (I ended up spray painting them because the color does not look like the photo and I had to order special screws to fit my drawers...a real pain!!) The round knobs are cheapies from Home Depot.
Bulletin Board: Beachbrights
Desk Chair: Ikea
Desk Legs (Byron's Desk): Ikea, not online, vika fintorp
Shelves & Brackets: Ikea: The wood shelves came unfinished from Ikea, not online.
Paint: Behr Black (not sure, but very black)
Curtains/Rods: Ikea (I still need to make these look better!!)

Island: Byron made with base cabinets from Home Depot, Bead Board Paneling attached to the back and Fence Posts for legs.

Anyone want to come over and craft/sew with me?

Amazing! You need to submit this room to some magazines. I especially am in love with your huge windows.

Great craft room! Lots of light and open space. I have often thought of where I would put my craft room if it had to move out of it's current space. And I think I'd put it in the living room.

Love it! I had a guy out a few weeks ago to look and tell what he could do to change the formal dining area (only use it during the holidays) But I wanted to add walls and a door. I need the walls and door...I'm a messy crafter. Looks great...love the cabinets. Thanks so much for sharing and have a wonderful time in your new craft room.

Good for YOU!! It looks great and the room is functional. Putting a little used room to use. Great view out that nice window. My living room/greatroom is my craft room, but doesn't look as nice as yours.:)Our motto is, 'Do more CRAFTS!'

Hello. I`m from Portugal and i saw your room on Better After. I think that about your Curtains/Rods you must see what Rebecca Robinson does here: http://www.youtube.com/user/robesondesign#p/u/3/AmPrRe9LwD0
I think that will look great in your windows.

Awesome idea.

How awesome! Stopped by via Better After... the best part is, you did it yourself! I am having a serious case of craft room envy... Congrats! Genius that you put the outlet in the ceiling... Oh, and you can buy a plug in cord extension/receptacle that you can pull down whenever you need access to your outlet (like they sometimes have in workshops). That way you don't have to look at an extension cord hanging down all the time. BEAUTIFUL room! :-)
