I've been thinking a lot lately about what my ideal house looks like. Sometimes I wish I could draw and sketch the images that float around in my head. From what I can tell the house in my mind is always small and definitely cottage. I am not much of a porch person but I love shade trees with just the right amount of light peaking through the leaves.
For the outside, I love arches, brick pathways, cobblestone, vines, window boxes, raised vegetable gardens, herb gardens, fruit trees, wrought iron gates and detached garages.
For the inside, I love open white kitchens with shelving, stainless appliances (really cool ones like: dishwasher drawers, wine coolers, microwave drawers), scraped wide planked wood floors, white walls, simple bedrooms, my own craft room, and I would love to have a separate guest room/bath with the detached garage in order to offer my guest the ultimate privacy. I like smaller homes (under 2000 sq. ft.) with maybe an additional 200-300 sq. ft. in a guest room attached to the garage.
What do you look for in a home? What images do you have in your head?
~XOXO~

The images in my head are always changing!!! It's so hard to pinpoint my own style because it's constantly evolving. I love these images though!
Same here..., small and definitely a cottage!! Only I do want a large porch.
Ahhh....the perfect home!!! I hope you find it...lovely images.
Well we agree on alot
except I like a bit bigger
I want enough rooms for all the
kids and future grand kids to stay
but I am with you on the kitchen
all white and stainless and wood floors
Years ago, I wanted a big old Victorian; or a big old farmhouse type home. But now, my tastes go more for little bungalows and cottages. I like the first picture you showed. That little house is sweet.

You speak my language....
oh my word! Talk about lovely. My ideal house MUST have a huge MUD ROOM, detached workshop and studio AND a large wrap around porch. :):) It sure is fun to dream isn't it?!
Love all those images!! I would say...that's pretty close to the images I have....except i'd add lots of touches of turquoise:)
I love that house at the top of your post. So charming! And that white kitchen is to die for.
OH..how I love that kitchen...so clean and fresh-
sandy toe
That house is on my street in Homewood, AL!
What beautiful images! I favor lowcountry style houses...porch, ceiling fans, ferns and lovely gardens.
Yep, I'm right there w/you. Love cottage, shabby look. Close by the beach would be perfect to hop on our bikes & ride down the boardwalk. (I did this growing up!) Would love a wrap around porch too! A two story would work for us! We've outgrown our home! A craft room w/windows will suit me just fine too! A separate little house for mom would be perfect. I'll stop there! ha! I could go on all day! Oh yeah! Lots of trees & flowers too! =)
